Creating a Portfolio from a Watchlist
Quickfolios are the simplest and easiest way to create a portfolio from any list of stocks (click here for the steps to create a Quickfolio). You may require a portfolio that contains more detail than is available in a QuickFolio. To create a portfolio from a watchlist using a different method follow the steps below.
Creating Short and Long Portfolios from a WatchList:
Access the "Portfolio" tab.
After the portfolio has been added to the directory, select it by left-clicking on the portfolio name.
Click the "Trades" button.
Select "Short From Search". "<New Search>" will be shown toward the bottom of the Short from Search Window. Left-click in the empty spaces below "<New Search>" to enter the following information:
Selected Date: Time of Search
Parameter: Stocks/Filter by/WatchList
Operator: =
Value: Select the name of your WatchList from the groups shown.
Select "Invest all" or "specified amount: Total" on the Short from Search Window.
Select the "# of stocks" that you would like to short from the watchlist on the Short from Search Window.
Optional: Use the Date/Time Control above the search parameters to select a specific date and time to short your stocks (RealTime data is available for the last five trading days, older data will be end of day).
Click the "Short Stocks" button.
Repeat these steps for a Long Portfolio except select "Buy From Search" instead of "Short From Search".
Note: The cost basis for each position may be edited using the Portfolio Transaction Log.
