Creating a Custom Search

UniSearch allows you to create an unlimited variety of searches for Stocks, ETF's, Industry Groups or Business Sectors. Building your own searches is as simple as filling in the blanks. The following example will demonstrate how to create a New Search:

Building a Custom Search:

  1. Open UniSearch.

  2. Click the New Icon on the Search Directory Toolbar. An empty criteria grid will be dislayed to the right.

  3. Left-click in each blank cell of the Criteria Grid to select the parameters for your search. Begin with the first blank cell on the left.

Date/Time: Date/Time allows you to specify the time or date that your criteria is being met. Time of Search is most commonly used, which means the criteria you select is being met at the exact time/date that you choose to run the search, but you can also specify that your criteria be met a certain number of minutes, days or weeks ago. For example, if you entered Time of Search VST>1.00, than at the time you were running the search, the VST would need to be greater than 1.00.

Parameter: Parameter is the specific condition that you wish to find. For example, in VST>1.00, VST would be the parameter. Parameters are grouped by category. Click on each category to view the selections.

Operator: Operator is the mathematical operator used to help determine the level of your parameter. Depending on the parameter selected, you may choose > (greater than), >= (greater than or equal to), < (less than), <= (less than or equal to), <> not equal to, = (equal),Near (within 5% of value), Display Only, trending (to specify up or down trends over any period of days, weeks, or minutes), delta (to specify a percent change over any period of days, weeks, or minutes), new high, new low .

Value: Value allows you to select the desired level of your parameter. For example, for VST>1.00, you would click in the value cell, select "custom value", then type a '1'.

Note: As you complete each line, a new line will appear below it for any additional parameters you wish to add. Once you have completed your search, use the following steps to save it:

  1. Click on the Save Icon on the Search Directory Toolbar.  A Save Search window will appear.

  2. Type in a name for the new search, then left-click on the Group in which you would like to store the search.

  3. Select whether the search should be used for Long, Short, or Neutral trades.

  4. Click "OK".

Note: If you change the criteria of a search and try to select another search before saving the current one, then you will be asked if you would like to save it. If selecting Yes, follow the steps 1-4 as stated above.
